Shooting Investigation 
On July 8, 2022, deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to Rutherford Regional Hospital to assist Rutherfordton Police Department in their response to a report of two individuals that had suffered gunshot wounds.
Investigating officers learned that the shooting had occurred on Miller Road, in Rutherfordton, and the two injured persons, ages 15 and 16, had been dropped off at the hospital.
The 15-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his body and after undergoing surgery at Rutherford Regional, he was transferred to Mission Hospital for continued medical care.
The 16-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and was treated and released by Rutherford Regional Hospital.
The shooting is still under investigation by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. More details will be released as they become available.
