Update on incident from 7/10/22 20600 block of Kenosha
On 7/10/22 at approximately 8:10pm, Harper Woods police officers responded to the area of Kenosha and Sanilac for a woman that had been stabbed. Officers promptly located the victim who was immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency medical care. Officers were able to identify the home where the stabbing took place, at which time they found a small child crying in the driveway. Officers safely approached the home, extricated the child from the scene and brought the child to safety. Shortly after, officers began to take gunfire, which came from inside the home. Officers began to observe smoke and flames also coming from that residence. Officers took cover, set a perimeter, and activated the Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods SRT team for a barricaded gunman situation. When the incident was finally resolved, two deceased persons (1 male,1 female) were located inside the home. A person of interest is being treated in a local hospital at this time.
We ask that your thoughts are with the families of the deceased during this extremely challenging time. I would like to commend our first responders who faced a particularly challenging, volatile scene. Harper Woods Police and Fire were assisted by the Grosse Pointe Public Safety Departments and the Michigan State Police.
