Inmate at West Valley Detention Center Found Unresponsive; Cause of Death Under Investigation

LOCATION: West Valley Detention Center, Rancho Cucamonga
DECEASED PARTY(S): Guadalupe Gonzales, 33-year-old Male, Resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Saturday, July 9, 2022, deputies with the West Valley Detention Center found Guadalupe Gonzales unresponsive on his bed. Deputies and jail medical staff rendered life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. Despite medical aid rendered by Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department and American Medical Response, Gonzales was pronounced deceased.
Investigators with Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and are investigating. The cause and manner of death are pending Coroner’s investigation.
Gonzales was arrested by Redlands Police Department and booked at West Valley Detention Center for PC 187(a) - Murder, on February 24, 2021.
