The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southwestern York County in southwestern Maine... Northern Rockingham County in southern New Hampshire... Strafford County in central New Hampshire... Central Hillsborough County in southern New Hampshire... Southeastern Merrimack County in central New Hampshire...

* Until 645 PM EDT.

* At 540 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Northwood to near New Boston, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Manchester, Derry, Rochester, Merrimack, Durham, Exeter, Northwood, Dover, Bedford, Hooksett, Somersworth, Amherst, Barrington, Litchfield, Berwick, Farmington, Epping, New Boston, Epsom and Brentwood. This includes the following highways... Interstate 293 between mile markers 1 and 11. Interstate 93 between mile markers 10 and 33. Interstate 95 between mile markers 16 and 18.

* AFFECTED AREAS: YORK, ME ... HILLSBOROUGH, NH ... MERRIMACK, NH ... ROCKINGHAM, NH ... STRAFFORD, NH

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
