Flood Advisory until 09:30PM Tuesday

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast New Mexico, including the following counties, in north central New Mexico, Rio Arriba and Santa Fe. In northeast New Mexico, Mora and San Miguel.

* WHEN...Until 930 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 620 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eastern Santa Fe, Cowles, Tererro, Hyde Memorial State Park, Rio En Medio in Santa Fe County, Tesuque, Glorieta and Canada De Los Alamos. - This includes the following highways... State Road 63 between Mile Markers 10 and 25. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 297 and 301. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and drainages.
