On Friday, July 15th at 2pm, the Township will be testing our public warning system. There are ten public warning towers currently in service.

Please note that prior to siren activation on Friday, I will make an announcement to the community through the public address system that testing will begin. That will be followed by siren activation and a pre-recorded voice message. Again, this is only a test of the Mass Notification System.

I anticipate testing to last approximately 10 minutes. For additional information on our Mass Notification system, please refer to page 8 of the Township's information guide and recycling calendar.

"The Township Public Warning System is complete and fully operational. There are 10 public warning towers in service. In the event of a town-wide emergency, they will be activated to send a warning siren sound, followed by a prerecorded voice message.

The system is also capable of broadcasting a live voice message. Messages that require an evacuation will be preceded by a warbling high-low tone. Messages that require shelter-in-place will be preceded by a wailing siren tone. Any message about utility failures will be proceeded by a 'whooping' tone. This system is primarily designed to warn people who are outdoors; however, people indoors will likely be able to hear the tones and can access the voice messages by merely opening a door or window."
