We are pleased to welcome the Twilight Jazz Samba Quintet to the stage in Donaldson Park, this evening (July 14th) at 6:00 pm for the first performance in the Borough's new Parkstock Outdoor Concert Series.
Dr. Ali R. Chaudhary, organizer of the Twilight Jazz Samba Quintet, describes the background to his musical style: "I'm originally from California (SoCAL and NorCAL) and I learned everything I know about music from listening to and performing with outstanding jazz musicians across Northern California including Delbert Bump, Baron Wolfe, Mike Meyers, Sam Maez, Dave Wilson, Ryan Bridwell, and Geoff Daugherty, among others.
After completing my doctorate (in sociology), I relocated to the United Kingdom and had the opportunity to jam and learn from several British and European jazz musicians based in Oxfordshire including Frank Kenner, Trish Elphinstone, Peter Dixon, Nicholas Blake, and Tim Dawes, and Martin Pickett among others.
I am now based in NJ/Greater New York City and my evolution as a musician and guitarist is ongoing. I presently perform in a variety of jazz contexts and have also developed a hybrid jazz improv performance I dub "Beats, Loops, and the Guitar."
