The victim drove by his newly purchased vehicle, a Scion TC, and saw someone sitting in the passenger seat. When the victim asked the suspect what he was doing, the suspect said to leave him alone. The victim observed the suspect place his right hand inside his pants, underneath his shirt, and grab a black object. The suspect then said, “I’m going to shoot you.” The victim believed the suspect was holding the butt of a firearm and was going to harm him. The victim backed away from the suspect and called 911. The suspect continued to follow the victim. Officers located the suspect on the west sidewalk of Callan Boulevard. The suspect said he would not comply since he had done nothing wrong. Officers were able to arrest the suspect, a 21-year-old San Bruno resident; it was determined that the suspect had a kitchen knife in his hands. The suspect was booked into jail for criminal threats, vehicle burglary, concealment of a dirk or dagger, and resisting arrest.

Robberies
There was one attempted robbery during the past week.
On Sunday, 07-10-22, at approximately 8:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to Dollar Tree on Mission Street on a report of an attempted armed robbery. An employee stated that the suspect grabbed both her arms and pushed her inside the main office. Once inside the office, the employee turned to face the suspect, who told her, “Give me the money.” The employee pushed the suspect outside the office and held the door handle so that the suspect could not enter. The suspect then said, “You better not call the police.” The suspect then confronted a cashier at the check stand. The cashier said the suspect had his hand in his pocket while demanding money at the register. The suspect then demanded money a second time and pulled his right hand out of his pocket. The cashier noticed a pistol fall from the suspect’s pocket onto the floor. The cashier thought the pistol “looked fake.” The suspect picked up the pistol off the floor and fled the store towards Flournoy Street. The suspect was described as a Black male in his forties, wearing a yellow reflective vest, black hoodie, and black pants. This investigation is continuing.

It appears that a bedroom window was broken, enabling someone to reach through and open the window from the inside. The suspects stole approximately $1,000 cash and fled. They were dropped off and picked up in a new model C or E class Mercedes Benz in front of the residence. The victim described the first suspect as a slender male, approximately 160 pounds, and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and blue pants. The second suspect was described as a slender male, approximately 160 pounds, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Scams/Other
Internet Scam
On Thursday, 07-06-22, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 68-year-old Daly City resident noticed a popup while on his laptop that stated it was Apple support and that his laptop was possibly hacked. The victim called the phone number on the popup. The victim spoke with “Ryan,” who told him he was from Apple support. “Ryan” told the victim that his laptop was possibly hacked and to download “Teams” so that “Ryan” could connect to his laptop and to leave the laptop on overnight so that it could be monitored. “Ryan” told the victim that he would call back the next morning. On Thursday, 07-07-22, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the victim did not receive a call from “Ryan,” so he called and left a message. “Ryan” returned the victim’s phone call and informed the victim that there was a $97,589.00 pending charge on his Bank of America account. The victim didn’t recognize that charge and believed it to be a fraudulent charge. While on the phone, “Ryan” connected the victim to “Michael Monahan,” who posed as a Bank of America fraud department representative. “Michael Monahan” told the victim that Bank of America employees cannot be trusted and convinced the victim to go to Bank of America and transfer $97,589.00 to a “Safe Custody Account.” The victim had “Michael Monahan” on the phone, in his pocket, during the wire transfer at Bank of America. The victim said Bank of America had advised him that a wire transfer could not be reversed, but the victim continued with the transfer anyway. The victim left Bank of America, and “Michael Monahan” informed the victim that the money would return to his account in a few days. The victim called his daughter and informed her of the incident. The victim’s daughter told him that it was a scam and to go back to the bank to cancel the transfer. The victim went to Bank of America, but could not cancel the transfer.

This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there.
