Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 09:30PM Sunday

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Union County in southern Illinois... Alexander County in southern Illinois... Scott County in southeastern Missouri... Southeastern Perry County in southeastern Missouri... North central New Madrid County in southeastern Missouri... Southeastern Wayne County in southeastern Missouri... Northern Stoddard County in southeastern Missouri... Central Cape Girardeau County in southeastern Missouri...

* Until 930 PM CDT.

* At 834 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Grand Tower to 6 miles northwest of Advance to near Puxico, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Bell City, Delta, Jonesboro, Cobden, Essex, Anna, Chaffee, Oran, Benton, Morehouse, Morley, Canalou, Hay-Wood City, Sikeston and Matthews. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 24 and 39. Interstate 57 in Missouri near Mile Marker 1. Interstate 55 between Mile Markers 62 and 105.

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Paducah. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
