On July 17th at 11:55 PM, APD officers were dispatched to a crash involving a single motorcycle in the 100 block of south Ross Street. The motorcycle rider, 46-year-old Adam Cortez, had been traveling north on Ross Street at a high rate of speed. Cortez struck a center concrete median causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. Cortez was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Cortez was not wearing a helmet. Speed is a factor in this crash. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
