Today’s temperature is expected to be the hottest of the week (well over 100°). The City of Tonkawa have joined with community partners to provide locations that will be designated “Cool Areas.” These locations will allow Tonkawa residents to have a chance to cool down in the event that their air-conditioner breaks down, they have no cool place to go, or cannot otherwise escape the heat. Currently, these Cool Areas will be offered during the day, only. Cool Areas will have access to water, shade, air conditioning, etc. Adults and Children are welcome. However, no pets will be allowed at the Cool Areas, at this time. Contact the Tonkawa Police Department at (580) 628-2516 to learn more about the Cool Area(s) accommodations, locations, and how you can stay cool in the summer heat.
