The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito July 12th to July 14th, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
 
July 12th
 
Arrest for Trespassing and Theft of Mail – 600 block of Norvell Ave.
At approximately 7:48am an El Cerrito police officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 50 year old female from Richmond after she entered the residence without the homeowner’s permission.  The female was in possession of mail belonging to the victim, which she concealed under her clothing.  The female was released on a citation.  

Vandalism – Jamba Juice 5030 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 6:12am, an employee arrived at work after receiving a call from the alarm company regarding an alarm activation at the business.  When they arrived they saw that an unknown suspect threw a metal garbage lid through the front glass door, shattering the glass.

Arrest for Possession of Burglary Tools – 10290 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 10:14am El Cerrito police officers were dispatched to the abandoned building for a subject that was seen tampering with the heating system.  Officers located a 35 year old transient male walking in the rear parking lot holding a pair of bolt cutters and a copper pipe. The male was issued a citation and released from the scene. 

Warrant Arrest – 10900 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 11:27am, a 30 year old male came to the police station and turned himself in on two warrants for his arrest.  One warrant was for vandalism out of El Cerrito and the warrant was out of Richmond for brandishing weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.   The male was booked at the police department and transported to the County Jail in Martinez.

Vandalism – Ross 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 4:04pm an upset customer kicked the glass of one of the front doors and cracked the window.  The suspect fled southbound through the Plaza.  The suspect was described as a white female adult, wearing a grey shirt, blue sleeves with flowers, light colored blue jeans and a black backpack. 

Stolen Vehicle Report – 10900 San Pablo Ave.
At 4:57pm the victim came to the PD to report that an unknown suspect stole their gray 2005 GMC Envoy from the area of Eastshore Blvd at Potrero Ave.  The victim used the Ride Share to go to work this morning and when they returned, their vehicle was gone. The incident occurred from 4:45am to 3:15pm.
 
July 13th
 
Grand Theft – 1700 block of Liberty St.
At approximately 3:04pm hours, the victim reported that an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter to the victims Toyota Prius.

Petty Theft – Barnes and Noble 6050 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 4:32pm hours, the suspect entered the store, stole miscellaneous toys and fled on a black bicycle northbound on San Pablo Ave. The suspect was described as a black male adult, wearing a red polo shirt and khaki shorts. 

Arrest for Trespassing and Shoplifting – Barnes and Noble 6050 El Cerrito Plaza
While inside and investigating the above incident, store employees directed officers to a 42 year old male from San Pablo who concealed miscellaneous toys in his backpack and was attempting to leave the store.  The male was placed under citizen’s arrest and released on a citation.
