IMPD Homicide Detectives Arrest Two Suspects for Their Alleged Involvement in an April Homicide Investigation.

IMPD homicide detectives arrested 18-year-old Jayden Jennings and 19-year-old Keith Miller for their alleged involvement in a homicide investigation that occurred in April 2022.

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, just before 10:00 p.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to 5620 E 30th St., reference a person shot. Officers arrived and located 16-year-old Michael Duerson who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported Duerson to an area hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arrival to the hospital, unfortunately he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Preliminary information led investigators to believe this incident involved the sale of a gun which was used during a physical alteration. That resulted in the fatal shooting of Duerson. Thanks to community cooperation and tips, detectives were able to identify Jennings and Miller as suspects. Officers located and detained Jennings on Monday July 18, 2022, and Miller on Tuesday July 19, 2022 both without further incident. They have been arrested for murder.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner's Office assisted and determined the exact cause of death to be a homicide.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decision.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Detective Larry Craciunoiu at the IMPD Aggravated Assault Office at 317.327.3475 or e-mail him at [email protected].
