Last evening, K9 Fred served his last day with the Janesville Police Department. K9 Fred passed peacefully surrounded by officers, the caring staff of the Janesville Animal Medical Center and K9 Fred’s family, Sergeant Drew Severson and his wife Emily.
K9 Fred served JPD since November of 2015 providing many criminal apprehensions, drug seizures and public presentations.
Over the last few years K9 Fred suffered from melanoma cancer. Through his disease, he never gave up his drive to serve the community.
K9 Fred will be honored on Thursday, July 21st, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Janesville Police Department. The community is invited. A procession will escort K9 Fred from the Janesville Animal Medical Center, South on Milton Avenue, West on Milwaukee Street and North on Jackson Street to the police department.
