Narrative: | |||||
On July 15, 2022, detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) arrested three suspects for conspiracy to commit identity theft, possession of fraudulent documents and possession of burglary tools. On July 15, 2022, deputies with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) assisted a Camarillo Senior Deputy on a traffic stop on the Pacific Coast Highway near Leo Carrillo Beach. During the initial contact, SEU deputies arrested (S) Christian Andres Gonzalez and (S) Magdalena Aguirre Del Prado for possession of fraudulent government documents. During a subsequent search of their vehicle, deputies located evidence linking Gonzalez, Aguirre Del Prado and (S) Matias Ignacio Duarte Hernandez to the fraudulent use of a credit card at Target, located in the 2700 block of Teller Road, and at Saks Off Fifth, located in the 500 block of Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo. SEU deputies determined the suspects obtained over $2000 in merchandise as a result of the fraudulent use of the credit card. Deputies later determined Gonzalez and Duarte Hernandez were Chilean Nationals who entered the United States through the Visa Waiver Program. Duarte Hernandez had a prior arrest related to an attempted residential burglary and subsequent vehicle pursuit in Orange County and is currently on felony probation in Orange County. Deputies also determined Aguirre Del Prado was a Columbian National who has an extensive criminal history for theft related crimes across the United States dating back to the 1980’s. During a follow up investigation, deputies identified the victim of the credit card fraud and determined the credit card had likely been stolen from the victim’s vehicle while it was parked at Matador State Beach earlier in the day. Gonzalez and Aguirre Del Prado were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for conspiracy to commit identity theft, possession of fraudulent government documents and possession of burglary tools. Duarte Hernandez was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for conspiracy to commit identity theft and possession of burglary tools. They are currently in custody with bail set at $50,000. |
