3:25 AM: Officer Swadener conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 5000 block of Thornton Ave which ultimately led to an arrested of a 40-year old male on probation out of Newark for possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
6:38 AM: Officer Rivera investigated a burglary to a vehicle in the 5000 block of Stevenson Boulevard. Loss was a wallet and keys.
6:15 AM: Officer Losier investigated an overnight theft of a vehicle in the 37000 block of Sycamore Street.
7:07 AM: Officer Arroyo investigated a theft in the 5000 block of John Muir Drive. Loss was power tools.
7:28 AM: Officer Rivera investigated a theft of a catalytic converter in the 5000 block of Tenaya Avenue.
1:30 PM: Officers were dispatched to a report of suspicious activity described as prowling in the area of Guava Pl and Roberston Ave. Officers arrived on scene and gave commands to the subject but he would not comply. Eventually, officers were able to make contact and arrest the subject, a 23-year old male out of Newark for loitering, being too inebriated to care for himself or others, and resisting a peace officer. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
2:08 PM: Officers responded to an in-progress robbery in the 1000 block of Newpark Mall Rd. The subjects fled prior to officer arrival. Loss was 50 pairs of glasses.

12:29 AM: Officers responded to a report of a subject exposing himself in the 6000 block of Peppertree Ct. Officers made contact and arrested a 35-year old male out of Newark for outstanding warrants. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
1:53 AM: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in 35000 block of Cedar Blvd. Officers made contact and arrested a 38-year old female for four outstanding warrants. She was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
7:01 AM: Officers made contact and arrested a 45-year old male out of Newark in the area of i880 and Decoto Rd for an outstanding warrant. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
5:32 PM: Officers were flagged down regarding a possible DUI collision into a parked car in the 5000 block of Thornton Ave. Officer Hernandez arrived on scene and located the driver, a 60-year old male out of Newark. He was ultimately arrested for DUI and booked at Santa Rita Jail.

7:05-8:44 AM: Officers investigated multiple overnight burglaries in the area of Jarvis Avenue and Newark Boulevard which is the north side of the city. Loss was cash registers and cash.
7:57 AM: Officer Adami and Officer Taylor investigated a burglary to a vehicle in the 6000 block of Overlake Place. Loss is $20k in clothing.
10:31 AM: Officer Torres investigated a theft of a vehicle in the 7000 block of George Avenue.
3:34 PM: Officer Adami and Officer Taylor responded to a physical altercation between two males in the 5000 block of St. Mark Avenue. Upon arrival, officers made contact and arrested a 30-year-old male out of Newark for assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm). He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
11:33 PM: Officers made contact and arrested a 59-year old male for possession of a controlled substance in the 5000 block of Thornton Avenue. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

1:33 AM: Officer Herrera initiated a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Mowry Avenue and Cedar Boulevard. Officer Herrera made contact and arrested a 32-year-old male out of Hayward for possession of burglary tools. He was cited and released on scene.
2:28 AM: Officer Swadener made contact and arrested a 38-year-old male out of Redondo Beach for an outstanding warrant in the 38000 block of Cedar Boulevard. He was cited and released on scene.
11:30 AM: Officer San Pedro investigated a cold burglary in the 6000 block of Clark Avenue. Loss was several personal items.
2:38 PM: Officer San Pedro documented two found firearms in the 37000 block of Oak Street.
5:50 PM: Officers responded to a report of an assault in the 6000 block of Truckee Court. Upon arrival, Officers made contact and arrested a 26-year-old male out of Newark for assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm). He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
7:07 PM: Officer Swander made contact and arrested a 37-year-old male out of Newark in the 6000 block of Civic Terrace Avenue for being too inebriated to care for himself or others. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

10:50 PM: Officer Losier made contact and arrested a 34-year old female out of Sacramento, a 25-year old female out of Sacramento and a 29-year old male out of Hayward in the area of Willow St and Thornton Ave for active warrants. Two of the three were booked at Santa Rita Jail. The third was issued a notice to appear and released.

2:44 AM: While conducting a security check in the 35000 block of Dumbarton Ct, Officer Riddles observed two subjects underneath a vehicle. The subjects noticed the officer and immediately fled the area. The officer is investigating.
4:15 AM: Officer Riddles made contact and arrested a 45-year old male out of Newark in the area of Thornton Avenue and Sycamore Street for an outstanding warrant. He was cited and released.
9:49 AM: Officer McCuin investigated multiple cold burglaries to storage units in the 6000 block of Clark Ave. Officer McCuin is still investigating.
10:36 AM: Officers responded to a report of an unwanted guest in the 5000 block of Thornton Ave. Officers made contact and arrested a 43-year old female out of San Jose for an outstanding warrant. She was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

6:24 PM: Officer Johnson initiated a traffic enforcement stop in the 200 block of Newpark Mall. Officer Johnson made contact and arrested a 56-year old male out of Alameda for an outstanding warrant. He was issued a citation and released.
6:26 PM: Officer Soto investigated a theft of a catalytic convertor in the 5000 block of Thornton Avenue.
7:55 PM: Officer Swadener investigated a burglary to a vehicle in the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue. No loss at this time.

5:36 PM: Officers responded to the area of Thornton Avenue and Cherry Street for a report of a traffic collision. The driver fled prior to officer arrival but was located nearby. Officers made contact and arrested a 19-year-old male out of Fremont for DUI, hit and run and possession of a counterfeit ID. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

5:44 AM: Officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision in the area of Central Ave and Sycamore St. The driver fled prior to officer arrival. Officers are investigating the incident.
10:04 AM: Officers responded to a report of a subject trespassing and refusing to leave. A records check revealed the subject, a 63-year old male, had an active warrant. The subject began to flee but was quickly apprehended. He was ultimately arrested for a warrant and resisting arrest. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

12:31 AM: Officer Herrera observed a vehicle driving recklessly in the 5000 block of Thornton Ave. Officer Herrera initiated a traffic enforcement stop and made contact with a 21-year old male out of Fremont. The subject was cited and released for reckless driving. His vehicle was towed and placed on a 30-day hold.
12:46 AM: Officer Riddles made contact and arrested a 34-year old male out of Union City for being too inebriated to care for himself or others. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
8:06 AM: Officers made contact and arrested a 59-year old male out of Newark in the 37000 block of Sycamore St for outstanding warrants. He was cited and released on scene.
12:53 PM: Officer Arroyo responded to a report of a vehicle collision in the area of Thornton Ave and Cedar Blvd. Officer Arroyo made contact and arrested a 49-year old male out of Martinez for DUI. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
2:07 PM: Officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 200 block of Newpark Mall Rd. Loss was merchandise. Officers are still investigating.
6:39 PM: While conducting illegal firework enforcement, officers were alerted of illegal fireworks in the 6000 block of Lafayette Ave. Officers obtained a search warrant and seized a large quantity of illegal fireworks. A 17-year old male out of Newark was arrested for possession and sales of illegal fireworks. The juvenile was released to his parents with a Notice to Appear and an additional administrative citation for Firework Social Host Ordinance violation was issued to the homeowner.

10:31 AM: Officer Arroyo investigated an overnight theft of a catalytic converter in the 6000 block of Cedar Boulevard.
10:34 AM: Officer Rivera investigated an overnight theft of a catalytic converter in the area of Dragonfly Street/Tule Elk Way.
10:24 AM: Officer Taylor investigated a report of a discarded ATM in the 35000 block of Newark Blvd. The item was booked into property.
7:00 PM: Officers responded to a report of a negligent discharge of a firearm resulting in an injury in the 6000 block of Mistflower Ave. Arriving officers secured the firearm and provided aid to the victim before being transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is believed that the gun owner was cleaning the firearm and negligently discharged the firearm.
11:57 PM: Officer Pacheco observed an altercation between two persons. Officer Pacheco made contact with the two subjects. During the officer’s investigation, a 20-year old male out of Newark was arrested for being too inebriated to care for himself or others. While attempting to take the subject into custody, the subject became combative and refused to comply with the officer’s orders. The subject eventually was safely taken into custody. He was ultimately arrested for being too inebriated to care for himself or others, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
4th of July recap: We want to thank our community for their support and wanted to provide an update on community concerns regarding nuisance illegal fireworks. In addition to the illegal firework seizure on July 3rd, this 4th of July the Newark Police Department responded to 107 calls for service related to fireworks resulting in 25 citations for violations. Of the 25 citations issued; 21 were Newark’s Fireworks Social Host Ordinance violations and 4 were for possession or use of illegal fireworks. Fines for these violations are $1,000 or in some cases 6 months in jail. In most cases, violators complied after receiving a citation, but a few were repeat offenders which resulted in additional citations issued. As a result, Officers seized four overflowing bins of illegal and dangerous fireworks
