Convicted Felon Arrested in Apple Valley After Attempting to Rob a Business

LOCATION: 21000 block of State Hwy 18 in the Town of Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Joel Albitre, a 21-year-old resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): Confidential Employee
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at approximately 8:08 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the 21000 block of State Hwy 18. An employee reported an unknown male jumped the counter, attempted to open the cash register, and left the location.
Deputies arrived on scene and located the suspect, later identified as convicted felon Joel Albitre. After a short foot pursuit, Albitre was arrested without further incident. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for attempted robbery and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
