On Saturday, July 23, 2022, and Sunday, July 24, 2022, the annual Newark Holy Ghost Festival will be occurring. Parades will be held on both days causing several road closures within the City of Newark. Residents and visitors are advised to use alternate routes (including trucks) to prevent delays to their destinations.
The following roads will be closed on Saturday, July 23, 2022 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Cherry Street northbound only from Plummer Avenue to Thornton Avenue.
- Plummer Avenue between Galletta Drive and Arden Street.
The following roads will be closed on Sunday, July 24, 2022 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m..
- Thornton Avenue (all eastbound lanes) between Cherry Street and Arden Street
- Cherry Street northbound only from Plummer Avenue to Thornton Avenue.
- Galletta Drive
- Arden Street
- Plummer Avenue between Cherry Street to Arden Street
Trucks:
Saturday, 7/23 all trucks that normally travel on northbound Cherry Street to Thornton Avenue are advised to use Central Avenue
Sunday, 7/24 all trucks that normally travel on eastbound Thornton Avenue to Newark Boulevard is advised to use southbound Cherry Street to Central Avenue.
