Male Victim Dies of Injuries After Being Struck by a Hit and Run Driver

VICTIM(S): 45-year-old Male Resident of Highland, Name withheld pending next of kin notification
SUMMARY:
On Friday, July 22, 2022, at 12:48 a.m., deputies from the Highland Sheriff’s Station responded to East 3rd Street, east of Tippecanoe Avenue, for a report of an unresponsive male lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, they found the male lying in the westbound lanes of traffic. Despite life-saving efforts, the male died due to a traffic collision.
The Region Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the collision and assumed the investigation. It appeared the male was riding a skateboard in the westbound lanes of East 3rd Street when he was struck by a vehicle that drove west. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene before the deputies arrived. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
