At approximately 4:20 today, Sunday, July 24, 2022, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Harold Rivers Rd., St. Helena Island.

When deputies arrived, they learned a man had been shot several times by an unknown subject.

Beaufort County Emergency Services paramedics were called to the scene and transported the wouinded man to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital. 

According to witnesses, the subject responsible left the scene in a vehicle. 

As of this time, there is no description of the subject or the vehicle.

Residents and motorists in the area of Harold Rivers Rd. can expect an increased law enforcement presence over the next few hours.

There does not appear to be a threat to the general public.
