National Night Out: 26 Meridian Neighborhoods Set to Participate
MERIDIAN- Twenty Six (26) neighborhoods throughout Meridian are joining over thirty-eight (38) million neighbors across all fifty (50) states on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, to participate in National Night Out. This annual community-building campaign promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live and work.
Residents participating will turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement. Most Meridian communities will celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, cookouts and other various community events with visits from first responders, local government officials and city staff.
“Getting to know your neighbors face to face and creating relationships is one of the best crime prevention tools a neighborhood can have,” said Meridian Crime Prevention Specialist Jennifer Abrao.
City departments that will be participating in this event include the Meridian Police Department, Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition, Meridian Fire Department as well as Mayor Simison and members of City Council. For more information on National Night Out in Meridian, visit:
