INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: I-15 Freeway and Baker Blvd., Baker CA
SUSPECT(S): Leonard Santos, 23-year-old male Resident of Long Beach
SUMMARY: On Sunday, July 24, 2022, at approximately 10:20 p.m., deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station were requested to assist Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) in locating a vehicle involved in a shooting in the Long Beach area.
At approximately 2:13 p.m. an incident of assault with a deadly weapon occurred in Long Beach jurisdiction and LBPD officers responded to the call but were not able to make suspect contact. LBPD received information of the suspect’s vehicle in the Barstow area and reached out to the Sheriff’s Barstow Station for assistance in locating the vehicle.
At approximately 11:04 p.m., Deputy Hancock located the vehicle traveling northbound on the I-15 Freeway. Deputy Hancock, along with CHP officers, conducted a felony traffic stop near Baker Blvd. The suspect, Leonard Santos, was arrested without incident. A loaded handgun was located inside the vehicle and taken for evidence. Santos was released to the custody of LBPD.
