Advisory
The Montebello Police Department offers free stickers to residents and community members to help alert first responders that they may be interacting with someone with special needs.
The special needs sticker program was adopted and implemented by the Department's Mental Health Evaluation Team (MMHET) as another tool to help give first responders advanced notice that they may be interacting with those with physical or developmental disabilities.
It would be best to place the stickers on or near your home's front window or door and or your car window. This program aims to prepare first responders better when responding to calls for service and interacting with individuals at the location who may have physical or developmental disabilities.
"Montebello Police Officers receive specialized training regarding the interaction with people with special needs. The goal of this sticker is to assist us in identifying those with special needs when responding to calls for service to communicate with them and better serve the community more effectively," said Chief of Police Paul Espinosa.
You must complete an application and submit it to the Community Engagement Unit for approval to obtain a sticker. For more information and to receive your application, please contact the Community Relations Unit of the Montebello Police Department.
