Police Training Exercise at Maria Carrillo High School Today

Today, Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, dozens of Santa Rosa Police Department officers and professional staff, as well as other first responders, will be participating in a training exercise at Maria Carrillo High School, 6975 Montecito Blvd. SRPD Hostage Negotiators and SWAT Operators will be practicing active shooter scenarios, throughout the day.  There is NO threat to students, staff, or the community.
The Santa Rosa Police Department regularly works with our local schools to conduct training exercises related to student and faculty safety, like active shooter scenarios. These trainings regularly occur at various schools throughout Santa Rosa, to familiarize ourselves with the intricacies of each school. With students on summer break but the school year rapidly approaching, July is a perfect time for SRPD to work with school faculty and educational leaders to build and update safety plans.
Media inquiries may be directed to Sergeant Christopher Mahurin at (707) 975-0129 or [email protected]
If you have questions about the training exercise, they may be directed to Lieutenant David Boettger at [email protected]
