* WHAT...Flooding of some roads, low-lying, and normally flood prone areas continues.
* WHERE...In southeast West Virginia, Western Greenbrier County.
* WHEN...Until 830 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Some roads, including U.S. Route 60 near Rupert and Rainelle, remain closed due to flooding.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 400 AM EDT, emergency management reported Excesive runoff from prior heavy rainfall. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen across much of western Greenbrier county in the past 24 to 36 hours. Flooding continues. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Sewell Creek, Meadow River, Burdette Creek, Kitchen Creek, Laurel Creek, Big Clear Creek, Dry Run, Fisher Creek, Beaver Creek, Elijah Branch, Joe Knob Branch, Improvement Branch, Fitzwater Branch, Eagle Branch, Boggs Creek, Beech Run and Cold Knob Fork. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
