The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
July 23rd
Warrant Arrest – 11700 block of San Pablo Avenue;
At 3:36 am an officer contacted a subject for a noise disturbance and they were found to have an outstanding warrant for their arrest issued by Solano County. They were arrested, booked at ECPD, and issued a citation and released.
Stolen Vehicle – 100 block of Carmel Ave.
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s Ford Econoline van. The theft occurred between 5:00am to 5:15am, when a family member heard the start and drive away from the residence.
Vandalism to Auto – 5500 block of MacDonald Ave.
At 8:01am an El Cerrito police Corporal located a gray 2004 Ford Truck with its rear camper window shattered. The owner of the van stated there was no loss from inside the truck. The incident occurred sometime last night between 8:30pm to 8:00am this morning.
Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross);
At 7:11 pm an officer was sent to the call that a suspect had entered the store, selected merchandise, and left the store without paying. The suspect got into a vehicle that was waiting outside and fled the scene.
July 24th
Stolen Vehicle – 6009 Potrero Avenue (Mira Vista Hotel);
At 3:28 am an officer was sent to a call where the victim had just discovered their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot in the last several hours.
Auto Burglary – 2500 block of Mira Vista Dr.
An unknown suspect shattered the front passenger side window to the victims truck, and stole tools and other items. The incident occurred from 8pm last night to 4pm today.
July 25th
Robbery – 100 block of Ashbury Ave
At 6:58am the victim interrupted the suspect taking tools from her unlocked truck bed. The suspect pointed a black handgun at the victim and stated he would shoot her. The suspect fled southbound on Ashbury Ave., in a silver 2-door Acura. The suspect was described as a black male adult, 40’s, 5’10”, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, with the hoodie over his head.
Shoplifting – Walgreen’s 11565 San Pablo Ave.
At 11:50am a 30 year old female from Richmond fled the store with a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandise. An El Cerrito police officer located the known habitual female offender, in the parking lot, and returned the stolen merchandise to the store. The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.
