IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Arrest in Shooting that Occurred in May of 2021

INDIANAPOLIS-IMPD Homicide Detectives have arrested 25-year-old Keith Bryant for his alleged role in the death of 26-year-old Keandre Coleman.

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, just after 3:00 pm IMPD East District Officers and IMPD Park Rangers responded to the Wes Montgomery Park in the 3400 block of N. Hawthorne Lane on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival officers discovered an adult male that sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition.

IMPD Homicide and aggravated assault detectives responded to continue the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, Coleman succumbed to his injuries. The Marion County Coroner’s Office determined Coleman’s death to be a homicide. Detectives continued to follow leads and tips provided involving this case. During, the course of the investigation, Bryant was identified as a suspect. On Friday, July 29, 2022, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against Bryant for murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. Bryant is currently incarcerated at the Indiana Department of Corrections for a separate case.
