* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of north central New Mexico, including the following counties, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba and Sandoval.

* WHEN...Until 530 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 220 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms over Gallina Creek, Arroyo de la Plaza Largo, and Santa Clara Creek. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Up to 1.6 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are expected over the area. The potential exists for flash flooding to develop, especially in Santa Clara Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Santa Clara Pueblo. - Hazardous water level is expected in Santa Clara Creek downstream to the Rio Grande. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
