Flood Advisory until 06:00PM

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Edgecombe, Halifax and Nash.

* WHEN...Until 600 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 255 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Tarboro, Nashville, Halifax, Scotland Neck, Dortches, Littleton, Red Oak, Enfield, Princeville, Sharpsburg, Weldon, Whitakers, Hobgood, Conetoe, Castalia, Speed, Leggett and Battleboro.

* AFFECTED AREAS: EDGECOMBE, NC ... HALIFAX, NC ... NASH, NC

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
