Felony Vandalism Suspect Arrested After Attempting to Evade Officers for Multiple City Blocks.
Occurred Date : July 31, 2022
Case Number: 22-3174
Location: 2600 Block of Lakeville Highway
Incident Summary:
On July 31, 2022, Petaluma Police Department officers responded to investigate a call for service in the area of the 2600 block of Lakeville Highway. The reporting party at a business relayed to dispatchers that an adult male was in the business behaving erratically, vandalizing computer equipment and other business property. On arrival, officers located a male later identified as Micah Allen Gale. Gale was shirtless, appeared agitated, and loudly announced himself as a “sovereign citizen.” Gale was given orders by officers as they attempted to detain him to investigate further. Gale continued to yell as he ran into the busy intersection of Lakeville Highway and Casa Grande Road.
Officers continued their effort to have Gale step out of the roadway, but he continued in the roadway, walking eastbound on Casa Grande Road. Officers did not close the distance with Gale, in an effort to deescalate Gale’s erratic and aggressive behavior. Officers continued to pursue Gale on foot, to the area of South McDowell Boulevard and Bond Avenue, where he was taken into custody without further incident. Gale continued to yell unintelligible words while sweating profusely. Fearing that Gale might be in need of medical assistance, Petaluma Fire Department Medics were requested, and responded to the scene. Petaluma Fire Department Medics transported Gale to Petaluma Valley Hospital where he was medically cleared.
Gale was transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility, where he was booked for multiple 594(a)(2) pc-felony vandalism violations, 148 (a)(1) PC- willfully resist of obstruct a police officer, and 11550 (a) HS- being under the influence of a controlled substance or narcotic drug.
