* Until 1030 PM MDT.
* At 724 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Santa Clara Creek, Rio del Oso, Arroyo del Ojitos, and Lower Rio Ojo Caliente. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Espanola, Santa Clara Pueblo, Velarde, Embudo, Chili, Hernandez, Chamita, Medanales, Alcalde, Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, La Villita and Lyden. This includes the following highways... Highway 285 between Mile Markers 337 and 351.

Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
