Heart of Fairfield Striping and Intersection Improvements Bring Change Downtown

Change has come as part of the City’s Heart of Fairfield project! Most notable is the removal of traffic lights and implementation of three and four-way stops downtown to encourage people to slow down and assist with pedestrian safety.

Please be aware of the improvements below and proceed with caution when driving downtown:

FOUR-WAY STOPS

All intersections on Texas St between Pennsylvania Ave and Union Ave have been converted to four-way stops. Remember, whoever arrives at the intersection first, has the right of way.

BIKE LANES

Bike lanes have been installed along both sides of Texas St through the corridor. Watch for cyclists when turning on to side streets or Texas St.

ONE-WAY STREETS

The first block of side streets on Taylor, Jackson, Webster and Great Jones are ONE WAY streets. Look for DO NOT ENTER and ONE WAY signs before turning on to a street.

PARKING STALLS

Slanted parking stalls have been created one-way streets to provide more parking.

As with any change, there will be a time of transition, but these changes will help make the downtown area more pedestrian friendly and contribute to the continued vitalization of the area.
Additional information regarding the full extent of the project, to include the history of the project, diagrams and upcoming street closures is available at www.fairfield.ca.gov/hofimprove. Be sure to subscribe there for updates.
