#LASD Century Sheriff’s Station Detectives Seeking Assault Suspect, #Lynwood

On Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 8:30 pm, the victim, a male Hispanic adult, was walking on the 3300 block of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, with his wife.  The victim observed a white work truck pull into a driveway at the location and park.  The suspect exited the work truck holding a large metal object (possibly a tire iron) and approached the victim while making racial comments towards him.  Without warning, the suspect attacked the victim with the metal object, striking him in the leg and upper body.  The suspect chased the victim and his wife southbound across Martin Luther King Jr Blvd before returning to his vehicle.  The suspect fled the location southbound on Long Beach Boulevard.

Moments later a second victim, a male Black adult, who was walking northbound on the 11300 block of Long Beach Boulevard, observed the suspect drive past him.  The second victim continued walking northbound on Long Beach Boulevard and upon entering a business, he was attacked from behind by the suspect.  The suspect struck the second victim in the head with the large metal object, causing him to fall to the floor.  The suspect continued to viciously attack the victim while he was on the ground, striking him several more times in the head.  The suspect fled the location southbound through the parking lot and out of view.

Both victims had no knowledge of who the suspect is and at no point did the suspect attempt to take anything from them.  The attacks appear to be completely random and unprovoked.

The first victim sustained injuries to his leg, arms and back as a result of the attack.  The second victim sustained serious injuries to his head and neck and was subsequently transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.  The second victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
