Folsom Police Department Progress Update on STAKE Grant
Folsom, Calif. – Folsom Police Department has completed the second fiscal year of this three-year grant term.
STAKE is the Stop Tobacco Access to Kids Enforcement Grant program which funds personnel time for sworn officers and administrative staff to perform tobacco education and enforcement activities.
It is illegal for a retailer in the United States to sell any tobacco product, including cigarettes, cigars, and e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.
Accomplishments:
• Minor Decoy Operations conducted at four Folsom tobacco retailers where cashiers refused sale to the minor decoy.
• Shoulder Tap Operation conducted outside one Folsom tobacco retailer; five citizens refused to purchase tobacco products for the minor.
• Tobacco Retailer compliance checks conducted at 38 locations.
• Anti-Smoke/Vape presentations conducted at 15 public schools K-12.
• Directed patrol conducted at parks, schools, and outdoor community gathering places with Nonsmoking/Vaping Ordinances in place.
The grant programs will run until July 1, 2023.
