The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico... Northwestern Taos County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 1000 PM MDT.

* At 656 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Rio San Antonio, Beaver Creek, Lola Creek, Canada Los Ranchos, and Arroyo Aguaje de la Petaca. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Los Pinos. This includes the following highways... Highway 285 between Mile Markers 392 and 408.

* AFFECTED AREAS: RIO ARRIBA, NM ... TAOS, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
