Four Catalytic Converter Thieves Arrested
On August 4, 2022, at about 2:30 AM, a citizen heard the sounds of what they believed to be a catalytic converter being cut off in the area of Township Avenue and Lemon Drive. Simi Valley Police Officers quickly responded to the area and while checking Penney Drive they located a vehicle occupied by four subjects: Hector Solis (19), Yamel Flores (27), Daisy Contreras (23), and Maria Hernandez (43), all residents of Los Angeles.
A cut-off catalytic converter along with two floor jacks, a reciprocating saw with several spare blades, and miscellaneous other tools were found in the trunk of the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle the catalytic converter was stolen from in the 3500 block of Township Avenue. All four subjects were arrested and booked at Ventura County Main Jail for 487(a) PC – Grand Theft, and 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy.
