Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives arrest two suspects for their alleged involvement in July homicide

IMPD homicide detectives arrested 42-year-old Stephen Cartwright and 21-year-old Madison Fowler for their alleged involvement in a July homicide investigation.  

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, just after 7:00 AM, IMPD Northwest District officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Bretton Wood Drive on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, later identified as 31- year- old Medhat Saad, outside who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived, and the victim was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene.
 
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. The investigation continued, and detectives were able to identify Cartwright and Fowler as the suspects. Thanks to the outstanding work by the Warsaw Police Department, Indianapolis Violent Crimes Unit (VCU), and Indiana State Police (ISP) both suspects were apprehended without further incident in Warsaw, Indiana. Cartwright and Fowler were arrested for murder.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence.
  
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decision.
