During the month of March 2022, Camarillo Patrol Deputies took a report of a juvenile female that met an adult male over a social media application. The adult male solicited the juvenile female to send child sexual abuse material (CSAM) over the social media application. The adult male then conned the juvenile female into meeting him at a local park where he attempted to sexually abuse her. Through further investigation, detectives identified (A) Devon Joelson as the suspect in the investigation.

Detectives authored numerous search warrants during this investigation and discovered Joelson had been communicating with numerous juvenile females via social media platforms. A review of these conversations showed Joelson solicited CSAM material from many of the juvenile females and also solicited to meet up with some of the juvenile females.

In May of 2022, Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies responded to a domestic violence incident in the 700 block of Hartglen Avenue in the city of Thousand Oaks. During that investigation, Joelson was involved in domestic violence incident with a different juvenile female at the location. Joelson was arrested for a domestic violence offence. He was later released from custody on bail.

The investigation continued and it was determined Joelson also met the juvenile female domestic violence victim via a social media platform. After Joelson began the relationship with the female juvenile, he arranged for the female juvenile’s transportation to his residence where the domestic violence incident occurred and where she was sexually abused. The investigation also revealed Joelson attempted to recontact the juvenile female victim after his release from custody.

On August 2, 2022, detectives served a search warrant in the 700 block of Hartglen Avenue in the city of Thousand Oaks. Joelson was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on multiple counts of child luring and child sexual assault charges. Joelson is currently in custody with a $1 million dollar bail.

This investigation is currently ongoing. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office believes there could be additional victims. If you have any information regarding Devon Joelson or this case, please contact Detective Larrs Johnson of the Camarillo Investigations Unit at (805) 388-5120.
