Police Seek the Public’s Help in Locating Newark Man Wanted for Questioning in Shooting Investigation
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in locating Anthony Phelps, 38, of Newark, wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that occurred on Friday, July 15, 2022.
At approximately 6:53 p.m., police responded to Avon Avenue and Hillside Avenue on a ShotSpotter alert. Responding officers located an adult female victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in locating Phelps for questioning. He is described as 5’6” tall and 180 pounds. He has a medium brown complexion, black hair, and brown eyes.
