Two Suspects from Los Angeles Arrested for Burglary and Grant Theft Auto from a Local Elementary School

DATE/TIME: August 8th, 2022, at approximately 07:00 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 459, Commercial Burglary, CVC 10851(a) Grand Theft Auto, PC 496 Possession of Stolen Property

LOCATION: 73175 El Paseo Drive, Twentynine Palms

SUSPECT(S): Omar Rubio, 28-year-old male, resident of Los Angeles
                        Ovidia Guidos, 30-year-old female, resident of Los Angeles

VICTIM(S): Morongo Unified School District


SUMMARY: On Monday, August 8th 2022, at about 7:00 a.m., Morongo Unified School District Employees reported a burglary at the Oasis Elementary school, which occurred over the weekend. A school vehicle and approximately $5,590.00 worth of computer electronics were reported stolen. 

School Resource Officer J. Perez responded for the investigation. Video surveillance at the scene captured an unidentified male who was determined to be responsible for the burglary and grand theft auto. Based upon witness information, deputies located the stolen vehicle near the 73000 block of Sun Valley Drive in the city of Twentynine Palms. 

Surveillance was established on the vehicle and the suspect was seen entering a nearby apartment. Detectives authored and served a search warrant for the associated apartment. The stolen property from the school and the vehicle were recovered. During the warrant service, Ovidia Guidos was found to be in possession of stolen property. 

Rubio, who is currently on CDC parole for burglary, and Guidos were arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, where they are being held in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.
