BTPD arrests alleged car burglars in stolen vehicle following tip from public.
 
Earlier this morning, at approximately 2:37 am, our department responded to the Rivergate Apartment Community for a report of suspicious males peering into parked vehicles.  Upon arrival officers observed a Toyota Rav4 leaving the complex and stopped the vehicle.  A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed that it was reported stolen from Ewing Township and officers then located property within the vehicle which had been stolen from unlocked vehicles in the Rivergate complex.  All five (5) occupants of the vehicle were found to be juveniles and they were arrested and transported to police headquarters.
 
Criminal complaints will be filed against these juveniles for receiving stolen property and burglary/theft and each was released to their parent/guardian.  Any resident of the Rivergate community impacted by this incident who has not yet filed a police report should contact Ptl. Our department commends the resident for reporting the suspicious activity as the tip was instrumental in identifying the suspects in this case.
