INCIDENT: Penal Code 451 - Arson
LOCATION: 55000 block of Montara Road, Landers, CA
SUSPECT(S): Susan Donez, 33-year-old resident of Thermal
VICTIM(S): Mary Reyes, resident of Landers
SUMMARY: On Monday, August 8, 2022, at about 8:10 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station responded to the 55000 block of Montara Road in Landers, reference a female acting irate with family members. During the investigation, deputies learned Susan Donez was upset with the victim, who is a relative of Donez, and began banging on the front door of the residence. Further investigation also revealed Donez set a fire in the detached garage to the south of the home before leaving the property.
The fire did not spread to the residence, and none of the occupants inside the home were harmed. Donez was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for PC451-Arson of property. Donez is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
