Deal Police Blotter

With the busy 2022 summer season a little more than half over we wanted to update our community on some police activity that has been occurring this summer. We want to commend our community for working with us in helping the Deal Police prevent several prolific crimes of opportunity.
This help includes:

  • Locking your homes and vehicles
  • Securing your personal property such as bikes and scooters.
  • Notifying Deal Police immediately when something suspicious is observed or a crime is in progress
  • Be aware of your surroundings and remain vigilant
With the help of our community and some more advanced investigative and preventative tools we have managed to significantly reduce the number of stolen vehicles in our service area.  We have had over 120 reports of suspicious persons, vehicles or activities either observed by our officers or members of the public. Several of these were attempted stolen motor vehicles.

Though vigilant patrol work, investigative work, and use of some advanced technology such as our stationary automated license plate readers, we have been able to thwart the overwhelming majority of these stolen vehicle attempts.  We have had a total 6 stolen vehicles this summer season.  One of these vehicles has been recovered out of state.  It should be noted that every vehicle that was stolen was unlocked with the keys in the vehicle.  These thefts remain under investigation by our department, several other agencies throughout the state, and surrounding states.

Everyone should be reminded that these suspects are often armed and have no regard for your safety, your family’s safety, or officer safety. These are dangerous criminals and by continuing to do your part in the ways listed above we can reduce this even further.

There have also been several other arrests and investigations completed since the beginning of summer that we would like to share.
