Advisory

1st Day of High School in Los Altos tomorrow, 8/10/22. Here's the scoop on the (NEW) Drop Off/Pick Up Instructions + safety tips!

School Safety Tips for Walking, Biking, Rolling or Driving. School is back in session tomorrow at Los Altos High School, and the Los Altos Police Department has some tips and suggested routes to help students, parents, and teachers travel safely.

  • There is NO STOPPING on Almond Avenue in front of Los Altos High School. New city signage emphasizes that it is NOT PERMITTED TO DROP OFF OR PICK UP students on Almond Avenue because doing so blocks bike and pedestrian pathways.
  • The student parking lot and the administration parking lot are CLOSED to drop off and pick up during school hours 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM because entering the lots crosses bike and pedestrian pathways.
  • U pass-through off of Almond Avenue in front of the library is closed for drop off and pick up to ensure the safety of the cycle track and sidewalk for bicyclists and pedestrians.
  • If possible, students should walk or bike to school. If biking, don't forget a helmet.
  • When driving, keep an eye out for bikers and pedestrians.
  • The drop off and pick up zone is located on Jardin Avenue behind the campus or on side streets a block or two from campus (Check the map for suggested routes in RED).
When driving, biking, walking, or rolling to campus, it is essential to pay attention to your surroundings.
