On August 8, 2022, at approximately 9:29 p.m., Morgan Hill police officers responded to 16715 Monterey Road #A regarding a male bleeding on the ground. Upon arrival, officers located an injured 38-year-old male victim. The victim sustained injuries as a result of being stabbed. Responding officers provided medical attention until the arrival of EMS, and the victim was transported to the hospital.
 
Over the course of the criminal investigation, two suspects were identified, Isboset Ramon Martinez (37) from Morgan Hill and Steven Michael Ortiz Jr (65) from Morgan Hill. Both Martinez and Ortiz were taken into custody on August 9, 2022.
 
Martinez was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of P.C. 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder and P.C. 245(a)(a) – Assault w/ Deadly Weapon.
 
Ortiz was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of P.C. 664/187(a) – Attempted Murder, P.C. 245(a)(1) – Assault w/ Deadly Weapon, and P.C. 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to Commit Crime.
