On August 11, 2022, at 5:08 P.M., Simi Valley Police Officers were dispatched to the Home Depot, which is located at 575 E. Cochran St., in reference to a robbery that just occurred.
 
The reporting party advised SVPD dispatch that they had witnessed a suspect take power tools from the store while brandishing what appeared to be a Taser at employees. The suspect was followed into the parking lot and observed entering the passenger seat of a gray Dodge Charger which promptly fled the scene. A witness followed the suspect vehicle and provided updates to dispatchers until a traffic stop was made at the 23 and Avenida De Los Arboles in Thousand Oaks. Both of the vehicles occupants were detained without incident. The passenger Roberto Arias, 45 years, from Los Angeles was confirmed as the suspect and arrested for robbery. The driver, a 55 year old male, also from Los Angeles, was evaluated at the scene and arrested for DUI. It was later learned that Arias was arrested and booked by Simi Valley PD on August 2nd, 2022 for theft and resisting arrest while attempting to steal tools at the same Home Depot location. The property taken during this event was recovered at the initial crime scene, and both subjects were later booked at Ventura County Jail.
