Deputies Respond to a Woman Screaming Call and Find the Suspect Sitting on the Victim, Covering her Mouth

LOCATION: 18300 Block of Montezuma Street, Adelanto
VICTIM: Female Adult, 26-years-old, resident of Adelanto
SUSPECT: Aaron Wicks, 24-years-old, resident of Lancaster
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 1:15am, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a 911 call at an apartment community in the 18300 block of Montezuma Street in Adelanto. According to the caller, a woman was screaming, and they could hear glass breaking.
Deputies located an apartment with a broken window, and the front door had signs of forced entry. Once they entered the apartment, they could hear yelling and signs of a struggle coming from the bathroom. Inside the restroom, deputies found Aaron Wicks sitting on top of the victim, covering her mouth to keep her from screaming. The victim was treated by medical personnel at the scene.
Through investigation, deputies learned Wicks and the victim are in a dating relationship. They started to argue and Wicks began assaulting the victim. Wicks was booked at High Desert Detention Center and is currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
