Flood Advisory until 01:15AM Saturday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northeast Nevada, including the following county, Elko.

* WHEN...Until 1215 AM PDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water or debris flows over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 910 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Estimated rainfall rates have been .75 to 1.50 inches per hour on already saturated soils. This may cause debris flows in Lamoille Canyon. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lamoille and Lamoille Canyon. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
