The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Central Sullivan County in east Tennessee... Western Johnson County in east Tennessee... Northeastern Carter County in east Tennessee... The City of Bristol in southwestern Virginia... Southwestern Washington County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 115 AM EDT.

* At 1212 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Bristol Tn, moving southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Bristol Tn, Bristol Va, Mountain City, Walnut Hill, Bluff City, Hunter, Morril's Cave, Blountville, Sadie and Elk Mills. This includes the following highways... Interstate 81 in Tennessee between mile markers 68 and 75. Interstate 81 in Virginia between mile markers 1 and 7.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CARTER, TN ... JOHNSON, TN ... SULLIVAN, TN ... WASHINGTON, VA ... CITY OF BRISTOL, VA

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
