Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 08/14/2022 at approximately 1835 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash on M - 51 Hwy near Warren Rd, in Howard Township, Cass County, Michigan.  
  
Investigation shows that 28-year-old, Buchanan resident, William Wallace was traveling south bound on M-51 passing another car and struck a vehicle head-on that was traveling north bound driven by, 25 year-old Mishawaka resident, Kelly Briese and passenger 24-year-old Dowagiac resident, Kamran Ahmad.  Both drivers were transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles, Michigan for injuries sustained in the traffic crash.
 
Seat belts were used by all parties involved in the traffic crash and airbags were deployed in both vehicles. Alcohol and Drugs may have been a factor in the traffic crash. This incident is still under investigation.

Cass County Sheriffs Office were assisted by Pokagon Tribal Police, Howard Township Fire Department and SMCAS Ambulance.
